Neurizon to Welcome Chris Bremer as CEO

Neurizon Therapeutics is naming Chris Bremer, MD, PhD, its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective Oct. 1, 2026. A clinical-stage biotechnology company, Neurizon specializes in innovating neurodegenerative disease treatments.

Currently, Neurizon is advancing its lead drug candidate, NUZ-001, through a Phase II/III trial in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Topline results from this trial (HEALEY ALS) are due in the second quarter of 2027.

New CEO Experience

Headlining Bremer’s experience, approximately 20 years with Grünenthal, progressively serving in senior commercial, strategic, and global leadership roles. At Grünenthal, Bremer executed on more than $1 billion in licensing transactions.

Following that period, Bremer was Chief Development Officer at Navigo Proteins. He was also the founding CEO of Gaiaso Theranostics. In his career to date, Bremer has led organizations of up to 500 employees.

“I am honored to join Neurizon at such an important point in the Company’s development,” Bremer said.

What Neurizon Has on the Horizon

Bremer added being attracted by the underlying science and advanced clinical program for NUZ-001. Additionally, he looks forward to contributing to the development of a potential new ALS treatment.

“Throughout my career, I have worked at the intersection of scientific development, portfolio strategy, commercialization, and strategic partnering,” Bremer said. “Neurizon has established important clinical, regulatory, manufacturing, and scientific progress.  I look forward to building on this work with the board and the team.”

Outside of the pharmaceutical world, Bremer represented Germany in swimming at the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games.

Neurizon clarified, though Bremer is the incoming CEO, he will not be installed as a director of Neurizon Therapeutics Limited.

Overall, company priorities at the moment include continued regulatory and CMC readiness, and further scientific evidence surrounding NUZ-001.
